The Stack Effect
The stack effect or “chimney effect,” is the movement of air into and out of the buildings, chimneys and other constructions and it is driven by buoyancy. This buoyancy occurs to due indoor- to-outdoor difference in air density. The difference in air density is caused by temperature difference and due to moisture.
Thus, during the heating season, the warmer indoor air rises up through the building and escapes at the top either through open windows, ventilation openings, or other forms of leakage. According to Wikipedia, “The rising warm air reduces the pressure in the base of the building, drawing cold air in through either open doors, windows, or other openings and leakage. During the cooling season, the stack effect is reversed, but is typically weaker due to lower temperature differences.”
The air in the crawl space that moves up in the building through stack effect brings moisture, dust, allergens, mold spores and soil gases with it.
Dangers Associated With Crawl Space Moisture

Too much moisture results into mold creation or generation; thus, due to air movement within the building as a result of stack effect, 40% of air that we breathe on the first and subsequent floor our house comes from the crawl space.
The air that comes from the crawl space transmits humidity, damp musty odors and radon gas. These moist works as a natural habitat for rodents, insects and bacteria to grow and find the path into the upper living portion of the home; this can be deadly.
Many other structural damages, such as damages to wooden furniture and carpets are caused by dampness that crawl spaces bring with it and causes wood to rot, resulting in structural damage as well as harmful airborne mold spores. Thus, moisture and dampness is considered an ideal breeding ground for mold and mildew to grow and are responsible for respiratory problems leading to Permanent Damage of your Lungs.
Now, with us you can transform your damp, dirty, moldy crawl space into a clean, dry foundation with crawl space encapsulation system. With impenetrable barrier that crawl space encapsulation brings sealed to the walls and overlaps onto the floor and hence eliminates the need to pour new concrete floors or patch walls.
The whole process of crawl space encapsulation system creates a new storage area in your home which could be used for other varied activities.

Dry-X Crawl Space Vapor Barrier Installation is the Answer

Dry-X Waterproofing, uses Flexi-Seal as a solution for crawl space encapsulating, a flexible membrane which is used for making a continuous, permanent Vapor barrier in your crawlspace or basement from all external moisture and gases. Thus, to transform the damp, dirty crawlspace into a dry clean and safe storage area Dry-X Flexi-Seal gives a real solution and frees it from the growing mold and bacteria.
Nonetheless, Dry-X Flexi-Seal Vapor Barrier 20-mil 7-ply exceeds all ASTM E-1745 requirements for a moisture barrier which are required when you are making a closed or conditioned crawlspace. Dry-X also stores and recommends a 20-mil 7-ply REINFORCED VAPOR DIFFUSION BARRIER (VDB) sandwich of high and low-density polyethylene with polyester-cord reinforcement.
The extra-heavy reinforcement that RVBD brings is ideal on the dirt or on concrete floors. This extra-heavy reinforced Sump Liner is made especially for this system and is treated with an antimicrobial finish that protects against mold and mildew growth under the crawlspace Sump liner.
Crawl Space Sump Pump and Drainage System

Sump pumps – Dry-x Sump Pumps and liners is also associated with new technology called Water alarm System which notifies and sends alarming signals to the Homeowner in case of a Sump Pump Failure. This system helps and frees the Homeowner from regular checking of the Crawl space of any failure.
Heavy-Duty Sump Liner with Sealed Gas-Tight & Secure Bolt-Down Lids
Heavy-Duty Sump Liner with regular and true dimensions of 18? x 22? is an ideal Sump Liner for retrofit and new construction and offers a reliable solution from all crawl space hazards. Its reliability is due to its specially designed stacking ribs that give this Liner an extra strength needed for extreme long-term reliability. As an added safety benefit all of our basins feature secure bolt-down lids. These lids are available in standard slotted as well as gasket sealed versions.
Dry-X DRAINAGE MAT
Dry-X Drainage Mat uses air-gap technology along with distinctive waffle pattern to significantly increase the flow of water across the footer and Under the Vapor Barrier. Its waffle pattern allows water to travel along the footer. Dry-X Drainage Mat can also be used on walls for channeling any moisture coming down the wall into the footer drain. This also eliminates the need for a separate cove plate.
Advantages of Dry-X Drainage Mat
- It Enhances water flow to drain tile
- Eliminates floor sweating
- Ideal for thin flooring
- It also works as a grade material for durable construction
